Labor Day Weekend....ALREADY?????????

A new start - Little House Needleworks 'Little Miss Sunflower'

Bargefest this evening.  Ummm totally missed the performance but did get to spend a little while wandering around the site.  The incorrect schedule was at one link I looked up so we got there expecting to listen to John McDermottt sing with the symphony orchestra and instead saw everyone leaving.  Turns out the show started at 730 not 915 like the schedule I looked at said.

But tonight is the second full moon of the month, something that only happens every couple of years and I managed to get a couple pics of it!

Also took a drive down River Road after dinner.  The light was wonderful and the river was like glass! Perfect for some snaps!

Cool old building!

Tonight's sunset was really amazing, the sky was different shades of pink.  Most likely due to smoke from forest fires to the west but pretty none-the-less!

Sunset reflections on the river

Can't believe its already Labor Day weekend.  Where has this summer gone?  Where has this year gone???  I swear its sped by even faster than I ever can remember a year going by.  I think I'd prefer those long summers I remember having when I was a kid, the ones that just seemed to go on and on and on.

Remember those?

Here's to a weekend of rest and relaxation and fun!  It might be the end of summer but Mother Nature hasn't figured that out yet, its supposed to be nice and warm and hopefully sunny.  Looking forward to it!

Excuse the wrinkles

Had to move the Qsnaps around this weekend to get more stitched.  I had lots of stitching time while I let the bad blister on my foot heel.  Just wasn't in the mood to go out with slippers on instead of regular shoes, LOL.

I think I'm in the homestretch with this project now, the rest of the border should go by fairly quickly, at least I'm hoping that's how it goes. Have to admit I'm itching to start something new!

Ouchie!

I admit, I wore slippers out in public today to run to the store to get some batteries for my camera.  I've got one heck of a blister from walking around without socks while wearing my sneakers and could barely walk yesterday cause it hurt so much.  Its a little better today but couldn't comfortably wear either the sneakers or my sandals so I said to heck with it and wore my slippers.  Thankfully they look enough like shoes that no one gave me a second glance LOL.

Ummmmmm....

Ummm, yeah, at least I can say I did some stitching today, a whole dozen stitches!

In other news Cadbury is brilliant!  Now we can get their Creme eggs for Halloween - only they are named Screme Eggs and the filling is green instead of the familiar yellowy orange.  Love it!

Mid week

Just a little more done, and I have a feeling I'm going to wind up ripping out the ghosts (particularly the upper one) because of the mysteriously darker thread color.  I had to rip out the upper ghost once because I'd miscounted and I didn't think there was much variation to the Sampler Thread Picket Fence I'm using but apparently there is.  Either that or I got the piece dirty somehow.  Hmmmmm.....

Spent a couple hours early this evening wandering around the park, snapping pics of all kinds of flowers.  A lot of them are blurry.  I really really need to invest in a better camera *sigh*.  One of these days.....

A 'pod' of kayaks next to the rowing club. Love the bright colors.  But I'm not loving the enormous blister I got on my left foot.  That'll teach me to wear socks with my sneakers next time I decide to go on an impromptu photo safari!  Funny to think I slipped on the sneakers cause I thought they'd be more comfy than my sandals.  Guess the joke's on me!

Here a stitch, there a stitch....

Walked over to the park today and discovered it was a heckuva lot warmer outside than I expected!  It was downright hot, guess that means summer isn't over after all.  Supposed to be around 30 C the rest of the week!

                                                            A little more progress!

4 Bats, 2 Pumpkins and a Ghost!

A little more progress of the latest Halloween design.  Stitched like a madwoman through hours of boring TV today.  TV watching is just such a let down after 16 days of Olympic coverage.  But at least the fall season starts on Food Network in the next week and then all the Fall Premieres should start once we hit September.

Its Heating Up

Here's my latest start - 6 Bats and a Black Cat by Blue Ribbon Designs.  Apparently I'm addicted to sparkly fabric these days cause I decided to stitch on a piece of PTP Crystal Relic rather than the suggested sand dune linen.  Well to tell the absolute truth, I didn't have a piece of sand dune linen so this looked like a good substitute LOL.

Anyway, the hot temperatures are supposed to be back this week and I've decided I'm already in autumn mode so I decided to keep going with the Halloween stitching. Might as well stick with what's working, right?

The one where I actually finish a cross stitch!

I FINALLY managed to finish a cross stitch, and given the number of times I had to frog out sections of this one, I'm rather surprised.  I loved the finished product, even love my fabric choice - it was originally done on a tan/brownish colored mottled fabric but I thought this might be fun.  And yay, for a change I was right!  This is from the Just Cross Stitch Annual Halloween issue - The Town of Halloween by Primitive Hare.

Saturday in the Park

Finally made it out to Cook's Creek and it had to be on the weekend when they hold their annual pilgrimage.  It didn't start until later in the afternoon so we were okay that way, but it did mean the church itself was closed so no photos of the interior.
Guess that means we have a good excuse to go back again!

We mostly had the grounds to ourselves and that gave us the ability to wander all around checking out different angles and taking multiple shots.  Couldn't complain about the brilliant blue sky and there was just enough of a breeze to keep it feeling rather nice out today.

Found some horses in a pasture and must have stood by their fence for about fifteen minutes waiting for them to come closer, and not stand with their back ends to us. Hahaha!

Checked out the new pedestrian/bike bridge over the highway.  It is rather interesting looking even though the walk was a little further than expected.  But the trail was nicely paved and only had to jump out of the way of cyclists a few times.

Berries!

On the way back we stopped at the abandoned homestead in the Park.  Its very cool, although I couldn't help wishing the Parks Service would maintain it as more of a living museum and plant a garden etc to really simulate what it must have looked like back in the day.

Another week

Drove out to the lake again to make sure the fallen tree was off the hydro line and success!  It was!  So now Kathleen and Lenny will have electricity when they go out to the cabin on the weekend.

Stopped along the highway to snap some pics of some obliging cows.  Here's one posing for a photo

Drove a little further to Lundar Beach just for the heck of it.  Lovely deserted beach and even a few waves crashing on shore.

No that's not a snorkel or a wayward submarine periscope poking up in the water.  Its just one of the supports for the dock that used to be here but it was washed away in one of last year's floods.

Sunflower field with convenient highway access!  Success taking some sunflower photos at last.  Yay!

As for stitching, I brought it with me.....didn't work on it.........but bringing it along counts, right?
