Like a Lamb

March decided to end like a lamb, sunny and blue and nice and warm. Hard to believe there were flurries a couple days ago!

Ventured out today to check out the new rapid transit station in the neighborhood.  The official opening isn't for a week so it was the perfect time to check out the new facility without having to worry about crowds.  It's very snazzy looking even if the route its services isn't the greatest.
Got a little more done on my latest Lizzie Kate project, still loving my fabric choice and the progress I'm making on these Double Flip-its.

Downtown

Had to go downtown to renew my passport so I took the camera and got a few snaps. Just a bit gloomy and misty this morning.

Thankfully it was a lot quicker to renew the passport than it was to renew it the last time. I think I was in the office for a total of 15 mins this time, last time it was roughly 5 hours LOL.  But that was back when everyone and their dog was rushing out to get a passport. Guess everyone has one now.

Cute

I found the cutest Easter ornaments at Pier One and this little owl is one of them.  Cheap, colorful, and completely adorable.  And I don't think it is just Easter specific. Now to figure out a good way to display it. Hanging it off the lamp just isn't going to do it in the long run.

I have a little bit more progress on the Lizzie Kat Double Flipits, managed to get the second design completed and moved on to the third.  I love how it looks on my fabric choice, especially since I was beginning to despair I'd never find a design I wanted to stitch on it.  It's just so pretty, I hated seeing it simply sitting in my fabric drawer.

Its rainy today, and still a little chilly compared to the temperatures we were having the past couple weeks.  Still wondering if we'll get any snow before the end of the month but it looks doubtful.

Posie

Very excited that the kit for Winterwoods ABCs, a cross stitch design by Alicia Paulson from the Posie Gets Cozy blog arrived today.   I've been a huge fan of her blog for the past few years and she's done many different crafts I've admired  so I definitely love that she's now ventured into cross stitch.

Can't wait to get started on this project, but I'm going to try to get at least one of my other WIPs completed first. We'll see how long I stick to this LOL

Start after Start

So here are all the current works in progress. I've been doing great at starting projects, just not so great at actually finishing anything. Right now the Lizzie Kate Double Flip series is getting the most attention, love the sparkly colored fabric I chose to stitch it on :)

A million and one....

A million and one..........starts in the past month and not much actually completed to show for all those new beginnings.  *sigh*

I know I seemingly vanished into thin air and I really have no excuse except for lack of focus.  But I do have a couple finishes to show off and I promise I'll catch up posts for the past month this week.  I had good intentions, I just never seemed to bring them to fruition.  But I'll see what I can do about turning over a new leaf, so to speak.

To the Lake

Took a drive out to the lake to check out the condition of a friend's cottage, they were in danger of flooding most of last spring and summer and while they were lucky enough to to be affected by the widespread flooding, they weren't able to use the cottage all last year.  There's still rows of sandbags around various cottages and a lot of people have started building their own barriers to block any further potential flooding.  There's also a bunch of cottages marked for demolition.

But it was a beautifully sunny, warm day so there was time to wander around and take some photographs.  The lake is still mostly covered in ice, will be a few more weeks until its clear.

Sunset at the park

After work I went with Denny to the park so she could walk Mac.  Darrell's band has an out of town gig tonight so we stopped at M&M Meats so Denny could stock up on lunches for the next couple weeks then we grabbed dinner at Burger King and had a picnic in the park for the heck of it.  The dog even got her own burger.  I don't think she actually took a bite of the thing, she just sort of inhaled the pieces as they were tossed to her.
The park was definitely busy, there were tons of walkers and people just hanging out enjoying the warm weather.  This is crazy weather for the middle of March. Usually its below zero and there are piles of snow everywhere.  But its pretty well all melted and this stretch of the river was completely ice free.
There was still some snow and ice around the Duck Pond however, not that these Canada geese seemed to mind.  There were lots of them swimming around or trolling the walkway for snacks.

PW Cooks

Picked up Pioneer Woman's new cookbook today and after giving it a quick flip through, I think its even better than her first one.  There are quite a few recipes I'd like to try including a few for pizza that look amazing.

The clerk at the bookstore said they've sold quite a few copies today since they put the book out.  Now if only they could bring her in to do book signings up here!  We can hope.... :)

SCORE!

First of all, here's a progress pic of 'Old World Floral' from the latest issue of Just Cross Stitch.  Considering how dense the stitching is in this design, its moving along very well.  Sometimes I impress myself by actually stitching quickly LOL.
Second, here's a snap of my brand new Ott Lite, purchased at Costco for a mere $19.99!  I had to look several times at the price tag myself just to believe it was actually so cheap!  They had it in this color - silver - and in black as well.  My other Ott Lite is half this size and nowhere near as handy.  It's sort of top heavy and tends to tip over all the time and it cost about twice the price and that was at  Black Friday prices at Michaels.  Very pleased with the new one from Costco and would definitely recommend it!
